2020 Spring Nationals Important Updates

Refund Information - March 20

Your health and wellness is our priority during these challenging times. To support our members, we have developed a resource page so you can stay informed and active with options such as dryland workouts.

We’re very disappointed that we won’t be seeing you next month at the 2020 USMS Spring National Championship for our 50th anniversary celebration . San Antonio was ready to greet you with an epic swimming Fiesta! However, the event has been canceled due to the COVID-19 outbreak and we are offering full refunds to all participants.

We started planning for this event many months ago in conjunction with our local hosts, Northside ISD Aquatics and San Antonio Sports. Supplies that carry a significant cost, such as medals and signage, were ordered before we decided to cancel the event.

To help offset the financial impact of the cancellation, you have the option to forgo a refund. All you need to do is complete this form by Monday, March 23 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific time. As a token of appreciation, we will send you a 2020 USMS Spring Nationals medal and Fiesta pin.

We recognize this is a time of economic uncertainty, so we understand if you would like to receive a full refund, which includes entry fees and merchandise. No action is needed for you to receive a full refund. You should expect to receive your refund to the original form of payment within two weeks.

Another option to help support our partners involved in planning the event is to purchase limited edition merchandise. Some production had already started on merchandise items. Unfortunately, the items and sizing on the initial production run don't align with orders that were placed during registration, but a store has been set up for those who would like to own 2020 USMS Spring Nationals 50th anniversary merchandise.

We plan to return to San Antonio for a future championship, and we hope to see you at a USMS event once this public health crisis is behind us.

Cancelled - March 13

U.S. Masters Swimming has cancelled the 2020 USMS Spring National Championship.

The decision to cancel Spring Nationals, which was scheduled for April 23–26 in San Antonio, was made jointly by USMS and the hosts of the meet, Northside ISD Aquatics and San Antonio Sports. All registrants will receive a refund.

USMS Statement on Coronavirus - March 11

U.S. Masters Swimming is closely following updates regarding COVID-19 (also called the coronavirus). USMS will abide by the recommendations made by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other health officials to ensure the safety of athletes, coaches, volunteers, fans, and staff at our events.

USMS encourages all swimmers to adhere to prevention best practices and follow the CDC and other local health officials for updates, and discourages swimmers or fans who are sick from attending workouts or events.

USMS is continuing to move forward with our planning for the 2020 USMS Spring National Championship in San Antonio. We’re working closely with our hosts, Northside ISD Aquatics and San Antonio Sports, to ensure a safe and enjoyable event. We're planning additional measures, including having hand sanitizer readily available and performing extra disinfection of areas of possible transmission (e.g., restrooms, showers, doors). Participants who do not wish to compete will have until March 30 to request a full refund by contacting events@usmastersswimming.org. (Here is the CDC's guidance for travelers.)
