Big goals for the future, great memories of the past

USMS announced today it has hired Rob Butcher to be its Executive Director.  Rob is an active swimmer with a love for the sport.

"My 'love affair' with water started nearly 20-years ago when as a high school junior, I heard an announcement the swim team was looking for swimmers.  Because of the opportunity to swim, I was able to go to college.  Because of the discipline of swimming, I was able to earn a degree.  Because of the life lessons from swimming, I was able to develop my career and most importantly many of my most cherished relationships.  Still, nearly 20-years later, I continue to pinch myself that this lifestyle we all appreciate continues to bless me so.

The benefits of being a USMS member might mean something different to each of us, depending on where we are in life.  Our common bond though is the water.  My commitment is to uphold the mission of USMS.  Health is so important to many and there is no better lifestyle participation sport with which to be associated than swimming.  USMS is poised to become a leading advocate in the continued growth of swimming."

Rob was recently interviewed by both FloSwimming.com and this Friday, June 13th Rob will be the featured guest on Swimming World's Morning Swim Show. You can hear as he shares his thoughts on the state of Masters Swimming, how important our Masters coaches are, and opportunities for growth in Masters. He even shares a story of when he used to beat Ryan Lochte. Be sure to tune into either link above.
