What's Grown-Up Swimming? We're glad you asked.

It's a fun way for adults to get into swimming after high school or college. Think summer league but for us! You get to swim 25s, 50s, 100s, and relays in a laid-back environment while enjoying the company of your fellow swimmers. Meets have food trucks or cookouts for everyone to enjoy afterward.

Frequently Asked Questions

When is the Grown-Up Swimming season?

Just like summer league, the Grown-Up Swimming season happens over the summer. Meets generally run from June through September, but check your local league's schedule to see when its season is. You don't need to compete in every meet.

What can I expect at a Grown-Up Swimming meet?

In short, a lot of fun! You'll have an opportunity to swim 25s and 50s (and 100s, if you're feeling adventurous) and relays in a laid-back environment that's kind of like a pool party. There will also be a social event afterward, whether that's a cookout, food truck, meet-up at a local restaurant, or another fun activity.

Can USMS members participate?

Yes! We encourage all USMS members to participate in Grown-Up Swimming. The fee to participate in Grown-Up Swimming is between $55 and $75 depending on where you're competing and when you join your local league. This fee covers your access to participate in between four and eight meets during the season. You can sign up for five events at each meet, meaning you could be paying less than $2 to swim an event.

How do I register?

The first step is to register with your local league. The registration fee runs between $55 and $75 depending on where you're competing and when you join your local league. You can register for a league at the meet and then find a team to join.

Wait! Grown-Up Swimming isn't planning to be in my city in 2024. Can I start my own league?

We're always interested in expansion opportunities. Email brian@grownupswimming.com about possibly coming to your city.

Will my Grown-Up Swimming times count toward my USMS results?

No. The two organizations are separate.

I've still got questions! Where can I get more info?
