U. S. MASTERS SWIMMING PRESENTS 2003 DOROTHY DONNELLY SERVICE AWARD TO DAVID RADCLIFF

United States Masters Swimming (USMS) has given Oregon Masters swimmer David Radcliff, of Hillsboro, the 2003 Dorothy Donnelly Service Award, which recognizes those whose service to USMS has been outstanding in its scope, its impact on USMS programs, and the number of members who have benefited from their efforts on the local, regional and national levels.

USMS, a national organization that provides structured workouts, competitions, clinics and workshops for adults age 18 and over, presented the award to Radcliff for his eight years of service to the organization. The award was presented at the United States Aquatic Sports Convention in San Diego.

Radcliff is an active swimmer with the Tualatin Hills Barracudas in Beaverton. He is the editor of the Oregon Masters Swimming Newsletter and the webmaster for the Northwest Zone, the regional organizational level for USMS. Additionally, he was the Northwest Zone representative for four years. He also organized the registration room for the NIKE World Masters Meet in 1988.

Radcliff began swimming with USMS in 1995. He was an All-American swimmer in high school and in college, and was a member of the 1956 USA Olympic Swimming Team. He swam for two years while he was in the Army, and then began a 35-year career as a teacher, swim/water polo coach, counselor and school administrator. He began swimming again after he retired from his education career.

United States Masters Swimming (www.usms.org) programs are open to all adult swimmers (fitness, triathlete, competitive, non-competitive) who are dedicated to improving their fitness through swimming and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Founded in 1970, USMS is organized with more than 1,100 workout groups and teams throughout the nation.
