Resources for New Delegates:

On behalf of the USMS Executive Committee, I'd like to welcome all of the new delegates to the 2010 USAS Convention and share with you some essential reading prior to your arrival in Dallas.  We have created a "New Delegate Survival Guide" that provides a very high level introduction to the convention activities and guides you through the check in and certification process, highlights some of the important meetings, what to wear, workouts (you've got to get that blood flowing first thing in the morning!), and of course, the social activities!  Please be sure to attend the "New Delegate Orientation" meeting on Thursday morning (9am), right after your Zone meetings, where I will provide introductions to several of our volunteer leaders as well as the National Office, and walk you through the convention proceedings.  We will also pair you up with a veteran USMS volunteer for lunch on Thursday so you can get even more of what is going on explained to you.

One of the first things you will notice is that all of the meetings you attend follow parliamentary procedure, using "Robert's Rules of Order."  It will seem overwhelming at first, but you will soon realize that it provides structure, efficiency and fairness.  We have created a short guide to the rules that you should definitely read before you arrive.

The convention schedule is also included here, so I encourage you to begin to map out your agenda as you plan for an action packed, stimulating, and fun convention!

Please take the time to read these materials, as well as the convention packet above and bring your questions to the "New Delegate Orientation" meeting on Thursday morning.

I look forward to meeting you all and most importantly, would like to thank you for your extremely important volunteer work that keeps USMS growing!
