Jeff Roddin received the Capt. Ransom J. Arthur M.D. Award in 2019.  Jeff successfully helped plan U.S. Masters Swimming national championship meets for almost 20 years, and he used his NASA engineering skills of organization and technology to help optimize the meet experience for swimmers and volunteers. Jeff has been an accomplished swimmer and he has broken numerous national individual and relay records.

Jeff joined USMS in the early 90s. His volunteer work began at the local level in 1993 when he joined the Potomac Valley LMSC and held positions as the Top 10 recorder, record keeper and the registrar for almost 30 years. He volunteered with his swim club, the Montgomery Ancient Mariners, as president and in other positions. Jeff served on three USMS committees, including Membership, Records and Tabulation, and as chair and vice chair of the Championship Committee.

Jeff was recognized with multiple prestigious USMS awards, including the Dorothy Donnelly Service, the National Championship Meets, and the Ted Haartz Staff Appreciation awards.

Jeff’s biggest contributions to USMS and its members came through his service on the Championship committee. Jeff’s innovations streamlined meet hosts’ responsibilities and committee operations. He considered destination cities and local attractions, and he planned activities. He worked in partnership with the National Office to elevate the quality and accessibility of USMS championship events. His volunteer service since 2000, contributed to the success of USMS national championships.
