A member of USMS for over 20 years, Bruce was rewarded the 2013 Ozark LMSC Service Award. At the local level, he served as Ozark LMSC Chair, Open Water Chair, Legal Counsel and Grievances Chair. He represented his LMSC as a delegate at numerous USMS National Conventions. Bruce hosted the popular Sunnen Lake Annual Open Water swim as well as many local pool competitions.

At the national level, Bruce served on the Long Distance Committee and as the USMS Liaison to the International Gay and Lesbian Aquatics organization. He currently chaired the Policy Committee and served on the USMS Board of Directors as the At Large Member from the Breadbasket Zone. Bruce also coached Masters workout groups in the St. Louis area.
