LMSC: Virginia

Patricia Miller has served as USMS’s Liaison to USA Swimming and also as the USMS Legal Counsel, a position she has held since 2002. Patty also contributed her time to the Governance and Legislation committees.

Patty has been a popular choice for serving on several national task forces including the Executive Funding and Hiring task force, Branding task force, Online Registration task force, and most notably, the Strategic Planning task force. She has been instrumental in ensuring that USMS continues to have a future in open water swimming by serving on the Open Water task force.

On the local level, Patty has served as the Virginia LMSC Chair as well as the Long Distance Chair. With her passion for promoting open water swimming, she stepped into the co-director’s shoes for the Chris Greene Lake Cable swims, two of which were USMS Long Distance National Championships in 1994 and 1996.

Patty’s significant body of work on behalf of USMS made her an easy choice for the Ransom Arthur Award.
