Swimming in his first Michigan State Championship in 1978, Fred stepped back to get his career on track and take care of his large family. After dealing with some medical issues, he came back strong in the ‘90’s. Fred ran three State meets and took over as Michigan LMSC Treasurer when he was needed. He served as Vice Chair and Chair, each for two years. He moved back to the Treasurer position for the LMSC and also served on the USMS Finance Committee for several years. He encouraged participation in Masters Swimming by encouraging triathletes and former swimmers to join Dutch Masters, a workout group he created in Holland, MI.
