Michael began his volunteer service with the Southern Pacific LMSC in the early 1980’s. He was elected Vice Chair in 1984 and served in that position until being elected Chair in 1991. He served as meet director for numerous LMSC championships and an open water event between 1991 and 1997. Mike began attending USMS conventions in 1982 and served for a number of years as Chair of the Convention Committee. He was a member of the USMS Rules, Marketing, and Planning committees. Mike was a well-known participant in the annual Ransom Arthur Award skits where he acquired props and participated in the presentations during the convention banquets.
