Stu Kahn, of the Pacific LMSC, was the head coach of Davis Aquatic Masters for more than 15 years. DAM is one of USMS’s largest clubs. Throughout his employment and continuing after, he served in a variety of volunteer roles. In 2023 he was the Davis Aquatic Masters board chair, and he helped hire and train the new coach. Stu served as Pacific Masters LMSC Coaches Chair on and off for several terms and he conducted numerous clinics. At the national level, he wrote articles which were published in Swimmer Magazine, and he was a delegate to the USMS Annual Meeting more than 5 times. He served several terms on the USMS Coaches Committee, including time as the Vice Chair, where he helped create the coach certification program. Stu was the Lake Berryessa Open Water Swim event director for more than 10 years. The event often attracted over 500 swimmers. He recruited or served as event director for numerous National Championship e-postal events, most recently the 2022 USMS Virtual One Hour Swim National Championship. Stu also directed the Ross Yancher Brute Squad e-postal, which consisted of swimming the 200 butterfly, 400 IM, and 1650 free - sequentially with no rest. Back in 2014, he founded the End of Summer Splash LCM meet and served as the meet director until 2020.
