USMS Award Recipient

U.S. Masters Swimming Dorothy Donnelly Service Award

Recipient: Brandon Franklin
Year: 2018
LMSC: Southern Pacific

Beginning in 2010, Brandon was instrumental in leading the Swimming Saves Lives Foundation initiative and has been heavily involved since. Using his finance background, Brandon helped the Foundation create a budget and tracking process for grants and donations. This early work laid the groundwork for the current grant screening and award process. Under Brandon’s leadership, the Foundation has awarded over 100 grants, totaling more than $400,000 to ALTS providers and programs. The ability to provide such grants is a direct result of fundraising efforts. Early in the process, Brandon led a group of individual donors to grow the endowment. Over the past five years, and under Brandon’s leadership, funds donated have increased at a 17% annual rate. Brandon also carried out administrative duties of the Foundation, including running board meetings, preparing minutes of the meeting, completing financial reporting, and marketing April is Adult Learn to Swim Month. Individually, Brandon is a top all-time donor to SSLF and an ALTS instructor.
