Walt was a longtime respected Pacific Swimming official when he was asked to be a key official for the 1987 Masters Nationals at Stanford.  Walt and his wife Anneliese fell in love with Masters swimmers and their cooperative and fun attitudes.  They continue to be head officials at many Pacific Masters meets and to recruit other Pacific Swimming officials for Master, which allows Pacific to offer strong events.  They also continue to support and officiate at USMS national meets.
