Recipient: Jane Moore
Year: 2002
LMSC: Pacific Northwest

Jane Moore has been an outstanding volunteer for USMS since 1979, when she found an advertisement for Masters swimming on a bulletin board in Wichita, KS. There she met future husband Hugh and quickly became involved in the new USMS club. Jane served as secretary/treasurer for Wichita Masters and assisted in the hosting of local swim meets.

In 1983 Jane and Hugh moved to the Pacific Northwest (PNA) where she became a charter member of Federal Way Masters – and the new club’s treasurer. She and Hugh directed numerous LMSC and Zone meets at the outstanding swimming complex in Federal Way. They teamed together to lead PNA as it hosted three national championship meets: 1992 LCM, 1997 SCY, 2001 LCM. Jane joined the PNA Board of Directors and has served in many positions, including two stints as president.

Nationally, Jane has attended USMS convention since the early 1980s and has chaired the Sports Medicine committee multiple times and through various iterations. Using her expertise as a physician, Jane has led Sports Medicine workshops at convention and written numerous informative articles that have appeared in USMS publications. Jane has contributed substantially to Masters swimming on the local, zone, and national levels and clearly deserves being honored, along with husband Hugh, with the Ransom Arthur Award.
