Nationwide Insurance has signed on as the official life and auto insurance sponsor of U.S. Masters Swimming, the national governing body for adult swimming in the United States. As part of the agreement, Nationwide will become title sponsor of the Nationwide USMS Spring National Championship, through 2018.

“We seek to partner with organizations where there is a cultural, value, and demographic match,” says Kurt Ely, vice president, strategic partnerships, at Nationwide Insurance. “In addition to the 60,000 adult swimmers USMS represents, USMS is committed to adult water safety through its Swimming Saves Lives Foundation. Drowning is the second leading cause of accidental death in our country and is preventable by offering learn-to-swim programs. We look forward to supporting USMS with this important societal contribution and, in turn, by providing solutions that can meet their members’ insurance needs.”

“We are pleased that Nationwide recognizes the value and opportunity in being associated with USMS,” says Rob Butcher, USMS executive director. “Nationwide’s national agency presence will allow us to extend our invitation for more adults to swim, or learn to swim, across the country. It is also noteworthy that for Nationwide, a Fortune 500 company, this is their first sponsorship in the swimming industry.”
