Coaching

The USMS Coaches Committee promotes Masters Swimming from an organizational standpoint in the conduct of Masters swimming workouts and by providing leadership and personnel for approved programs and projects at national championship meets. It also serves the purposes of communication, education and recognition among Masters coaches and between coaches and Masters swimmers.

USMS Coach Certification Course (Levels 1 and 2) at the ASCA World Clinic

We are genuinely excited to announce the unveiling of the USMS and ASCA Masters Coach Certification Program (Levels 1 and 2) at the 2010 ASCA World Clinic. Masters Coaches Certification will be taught on Monday, August 30 and Tuesday, August 31. Online registration is available for the clinic. Please note that you do not have to register for the entire World Clinic to take this course, nor must you be an ASCA member to participate.

The Coaches Committee has made development and teaching of the Masters Coaches certification program a top priority. Level 1 and 2 certification will cover presentation and discussion of topics affecting today's Masters coaches. Topics include the development of your Masters coaching philosophy; dryland training; understanding special populations; working with triathletes and open water swimmers; and the teaching of starts, turns, and the four strokes.

USMS has and will continue to invest in educational opportunities for coaches and clubs. The Coaches Committee is proud to present this course in conjunction with Club and Coach Services, and looks forward to seeing as many coaches as possible in Indianapolis!
