BOD Elected Positions

The elected positions on the USMS Board of Directors ("BOD") consist of seven (7) elected officers and a Director from each of the eight (8) Zones. In 2005, the USMS House of Delegates ("HOD") will elect all 15 positions simultaneously.

Board of Directors

The legislation which defines the BOD positions can be found in the 2005 USMS Code of Regulations and Rules of Competition (Articles 505: OFFICERS and 506: BOARD OF DIRECTORS). Below are descriptions of the duties of the 15 elected members. An explanation of duties of the full BOD can be found in the document USMS BOD Duties.

Elected Officers

Vice President of National Operations: The vice president of National Operations shall coordinate activities and work with committees that affect the business of the organization such as finance, legislation, rules, insurance, registration, and national office positions. In the event the president is unable to perform assigned duties, the vice president of National Operations shall perform these duties.

Vice President of Local Operations: The vice president of Local Operations shall coordinate activities and work with the clubs, LMSCs, and Zones. The vice President of Local Operations shall chair the Zone Committee.

Secretary: The secretary shall make proper arrangements to keep the records of USMS and the HOD; conduct all official correspondence of USMS; issue all official notices of all meetings of the HOD and BOD; and serve as secretary of the HOD and BOD.

Treasurer: The treasurer shall be the custodian of all corporate funds; receive and deposit all funds to the accounts of USMS; disburse funds; invest funds; maintain adequate and accurate financial records; and submit all financial records to the internal auditor annually.

Directors

There shall be a director from each of the eight (8) zones, nominated by their zone and elected by the HOD. Directors do not have responsibility, power or authority individually, since the Board's decision-making ability lies in its group structure. Please review the document USMS BOD Duties to gain an understanding of the responsibilities of the directors as members of the BOD.
