U.S. Masters Swimming Awards Grants

Swimming Saves Lives Foundation Grants

September 12, 2012 - Swimming Saves Lives Foundation, the official foundation of USMS, has awarded five grants for 2012. All five recipients are full time enrolled college students who swim for their college club programs. The five grant recipients will attend the USMS annual convention where they will each be presented with a $1,000 check. The five recipients are Kate Booth, a sophomore math major at University of Colorado at Boulder; Erica Efigenio, a freshman psychology major at Las Positas College; Shelby Elmore, a sophomore psychology major at Western State College of Colorado; Rachel Gentry, a public policy/psychology double major at the University of North Carolina; and Allison Ritter, a freshman business management major at the University of Kansas.

“Masters swimming is a lifelong activity,” says Swimming Saves Lives Foundation Chair Jeff Moxie. “The awarding of these grants to college club swimmers is an opportunity for USMS to recognize students who have a passion for swimming. All five of the grant recipients are leaders in their college club programs and perhaps at some point in their lives, they may want to become more involved with USMS as well.”
