| Description: | This event is a non-competitive one mile ocean swim by the Hermosa Beach Pier to raise funds for the Challenged Athletes Foundation which provides prosthetics to injured athletes. Identical board shorts are issued to all swimmers to remind us of the challenges to the handicapped athlete. The first annual event was inspired by John Coughlin who lost an arm and part of a hand to a boat accident while nearing the finish of the Maui Channel Crossing of 2011. Register at active.com |
