Anna Lea Matysek, Director, Membership
Anna Lea oversees all membership issues related to registration. She also provides training and assistance to all 52 LMSCs for their various volunteer responsibilities.
Originally from Merriam, Kan., Anna Lea graduated from the University of Kansas with a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering. She worked as a manufacturing engineer for more than 25 years in facilities that produced a variety of products, including machined automotive parts, smart electric meters, rupture discs, and nuclear weapons components.
She joined a Masters team in 1987 and quickly got involved as a local volunteer. For the next 20 years she served as her LMSC’s registrar and treasurer. She attended her first USMS convention in 1993 and began serving at the national level on the USMS Finance and Registration Committees. She was the chair of the USMS Registration Committee from 2001 to 2005 and served on the USMS Board of Directors from 2005 to 2008.
Anna Lea and her husband, Jim, moved to Sarasota in 2009. They enjoy the opportunity to do year-round, open water swimming in the Gulf of Mexico.
