Maintenance Procedures

We are migrating our procedures to a "GUI" (graphical user interface) so that various members of the H&A Committee can share in the work of maintaining our archives. It is not practical to place procedures on the server until the USMS database project is further along, so we're putting H&A maintenance procedures on a CD for the time being. This CD will have all the digital archives of USMS, many or all of our source files, and it will also have our procedures as rapidly as we are able to migrate them to it.

One of the most time consuming procedures is to assign SwimmerIDs, so that's been the first procedure put on the CD.

Another procedure to note is our procedure for displaying and annotating images. This is an area where our procedures are not satisfactory and where we are very needy of technical assistance. A great deal of the work in this area is also independent of the USMS database project, so work can commence immediately without fear of loss or conflict.

There is very large set of procedures that are likely to be documented last because no human intervention is needed to operate them. They are done automatically whenever the pages are compiled. The following are examples of pages that are generated automatically whenever pages are compiled.

These procedures are the first we've documented. Documentation of other procedures will follow.
