On-Line Systems Development
The easiest way to access our archives is on the world wide web. They are available through www.usms.org or through www.swimgold.org. Our archives website now includes 5,254 pages with 155,910 links connecting related information. We have information on 11,340 USMS swimmers, and, we can bring up what we have on any of these 11,340 people with a single uncomplicated URL. We believe that the total number of All-Americans ever named is 3,493. But, there are still 269 All-Americans who are not claimed by any LMSC and there are 446 All-Americans whose birthday we don't know. So, there is more to do. Our objectives are these.
- To maintain accurate and up to date information on the major swimming accomplishments of our swimmers in our sanctioned events.
- To keep safe and available a wide range of historical items and information.
- To make some of this information easily available on the web.
- To develop procedures so that as much of our work as possible will be automated.
- To enlist the help of people throughout USMS to ensure accuracy and fairness of representation.
