National Meet Results Database
Mary Beth Windrath is National Meet Results Database Manager. Here's her status report (6/25/02).
I have a copy of results from each Nationals starting in '93. They came in various formats, probably about 4 different ones. I have written a program to interpret the Hytek format, which many are in. (I consider the Hytek DOS and Windows versions to be two of the different formats.) I hope to have the data all compiled by convention time.
All the meets were converted to tables. The next step is to combine into a standard table. I just received diskettes with the original data for most of the archives that Carl had. So now I can reprocess that data which will hopefully be more complete, then put into the standard table.
As far as relays go, most have relays, some don't. For two of the recent meets that Clausen did, I should be able to get relays, but am still waiting on those. The 96 Michigan LC meet was in Access originally with no relays, but I now have the original Hytek results and should be able to do relays. The early Clausen meets all have relays. The 95 LC meet which I now have, came with a results file without relays. But I was able to recreate the results file with relays. The rest, I believe, are in some form of Hytek, so I should be able to get the relay info.
The biggest thing has been to get the data, which I now have, other than the 2 sets of relays that I'm waiting for. Pieter's been a big help to interpret the Hytek files.

I have written a program to interpret the Hytek format, which many are in. I also have a program to interpret Clausen's format. Each original meet has different nuances than the others. For example, from Clausen's files it is easy to tell which are foreign swimmers, but not so easy in Hytek. From the Hytek files we can tell most of the swimmers that entered, but did not necessarily swim, but not from the other types of files.
Hopefully by convention, all the files will be be in a standard format for individual swims. Swimmer IDs will need to be updated and added.
