The purpose of this page and it's supporting pages is to describe the Top Ten process in both historical terms and in terms of new aspects. New aspects include a greater number of people becoming involved using a wider variety of software approaches and the on-line availability of data in the world wide web.
These pages are under development and substantial rewriting is needed. Some pages have been taken from e-mail where pronouns and personal names are used in inappropriate ways. Also, many important topics are not included in these pages, primarily because they simply haven't come up in a way that precipitated e-mail correspondence.
Suggestions for additional material or for rewriting will be welcome.
It should also be pointed out that these pages are NOT official pages from the Records and Tabulations Committee. They are simply informal working documents by some people involved in the Top Ten process. These pages will be substantially changed after the USMS Convention in September.
