Image Annotation Possibilities

The USMS Photo Gallery is a collection of 3263 images collected from USMS members and from Swim Magazine. While USMS members might be perfectly willing to allow use of their photos for USMS promotional purposes, images appearing in Swim Magazine are often by professional photographers who are properly concerned about how their photos are used. Swim Magazine use only involves permission for its own use; no permission has been granted for use by USMS. Therefore we need to protect our images from being used without permission and we need to start a project to get proper permissions for our use. The images below are examples of how we might watermark and annotate images so that the collection can be viewed without risking unauthorized use. Of course, we still have our image art which does not have watermarks. When permission is granted for use we can use our source art in whatever way is authorized. At our 2003 convention in San Diego we should give direction to this project. The images below are presented to form a basis for discussion. Click on any image to see it larger.
