Possible errors in swimmer id &/or birthday or AA data

The following are All-American announcements where the swimmer identification or other data looks suspicious. The birthday may be wrong, or the original age group could have been wrong in one or more years. The column "Note" indicates a number of years of discrepancy between one part of our data and another. The other All-American announcements for each of these swimmers are included to help in auditing the suspicious item. The information from the original announcement is in the columns to the right, including Sport, Agegrp, AAYear (year announced), Age (then) and Name.

The total number of All-American announcements since 1972 is 10,283 for 3,352 swimmers. The information we have on most of these announcements makes sense, but our data for a few announcements appears to have some discrepancy in age vs. age group.

As an example, let's take the first item. John Bayless was a pool All-American in the 30-34 age group in 1977. Add 23 years to get to year 2000 and we have an approximate age of 55 in the year 2000. Our database says his year of birth is 1964, so he should be 36 years old in the year 2000. Subtracting 36 from 55 gives us 19. So, the "Note" column reports the 19. When a swimmer id has other All-American announcements associated with it, they are reported here for comparison. The remainder of the "notes" in this report was derived in similar fashion.
