United States Masters Swimming Opens Charlotte Office

August 1, 2008 - United States Masters Swimming (USMS) is pleased to announce that the USMS Charlotte office is now open.  This USMS Charlotte office will serve as support to the United States Masters Swimming National Office located in Londonderry, New Hampshire.  Rob Butcher, Executive Director, and Ashley Gangloff, Administrative Assistant, will be working from this office.  

“When we were handed the key to the office space on July 7th, we walked into an empty room of approximately 700 square feet.  We held our first meeting sitting on the floor and our voices echoed due to the emptiness of this space,” said Rob Butcher.  Within days, the USMS Charlotte office had furniture donations, supply and equipment donations and other offers from the local Charlotte community as well as the Charlotte area swimming community.  Today the USMS Charlotte office is fully furnished and functional, thanks to the generosity of the community.  

Close to downtown Charlotte, the USMS Charlotte office shares a building with various non-profit organizations and other local and national organizations.  The USMS Charlotte office faces the Dowd YMCA (the largest YMCA in the United States) and is surrounded by community members that share its common interest in fitness, health, and wellness.  

“Opening this office is part of the transition of USMS from a volunteer based organization to a staff based organization.  This transition will be a contributing factor to the overall growth and future success of USMS.”

The USMS Charlotte office will serve as a temporary office until USMS determines a headquarter location.  The USMS Charlotte office address and contact information is below.

The conference table and white board provide space for meeting and brainstorming. The conference table and chairs, tables and task chairs were donated by local community members.
