Hamel, Kuhlman, and Matysek in increased roles

U.S. Masters Swimming, whose mission is to promote health, wellness, fitness and competition for adults through swimming, has promoted three of its staff.

Laura Hamel is being promoted to Communications and Publications Director. Laura joined USMS in 2009 as Editor-in-Chief for SWIMMER magazine. In her expanded role, her responsibilities include content management for all USMS publications: usms.org, STREAMLINES e-newsletters, social media; and the continued editorial and management oversight of SWIMMER magazine.

Susan Kuhlman is being promoted to Chief Financial Officer. Susan joined USMS in 2010 as Controller. As the CFO, Susan's responsibilities include financial management, human resources, and developing the financial infrastructure for the USMS Swimming Saves Lives Foundation. In addition, she serves as staff liaison to the finance, audit, and investment committees.

Jim Matysek is being promoted to IT Director. Jim joined USMS in 1996 as the webmaster for usms.org. As the IT Director, Jim is responsible for software and hardware programming, customer support of launched programs, and safeguarding USMS IT assets.

“Laura, Susan and Jim have each made, and are continuing to make, significant contributions to the implementation of our strategic plan,” says Rob Butcher, USMS Executive Director. “These three professionals are among the best in the industry and we are to pleased recognize them for their leadership.”
