Luke's primary responsibility is to write new features and applications on both the front end and back end of the USMS family of websites, including usms.org. Although most of his time is spent writing new applications, he’s also responsible for the maintenance of previously written applications.

Luke joined the USMS staff as a new graduate of the Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where he earned a bachelor of science degree in computer science with a minor in criminology. He swam on the varsity team for all four years. Luke and fellow IUP swimmer Josh Huger created SwimUtopia.com, a swimming media site, which allowed him to hone his programming skills. Luke has had a lifelong interest in computers and the Web, and his mixture of homeschooling, cyber-charter schooling, and public schooling gave him opportunities to see the development of the Web over the past two decades.

Luke's parents encouraged all four of their children to swim from age 4 to at least 18. One of his favorite things about Masters swimming is the option to swim whatever you want, with no pressure. Since joining USMS, he has enjoyed the opportunity to swim new events—his off-strokes and off-events. Luke has also completed the Levels 1 and 2 USMS Coach Certification course.
