Jim is the webmaster and information technology director for USMS. His team serves the membership and volunteers by providing all web and database services and by managing the IT infrastructure at the National Office. Jim created the original USMS website in 1996 as a volunteer and continued to manage it as a volunteer until USMS hired him in 2002.

Jim received his bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering and mathematics from Carnegie Mellon University in 1981. He worked for a Fortune 500 company for 19 years prior to joining USMS, mostly as a software engineer developing embedded realtime control software and later managing small software development teams.

A swimmer since age 4, Jim swam in summer leagues, then on YMCA and AAU teams, as well as on his high school and college teams. After a six-year break from swimming after college, he joined USMS in 1987. He loves the camaraderie and competitive opportunities afforded by USMS.
