Steve had been an active official for over 20 years, volunteering his service as referee, starter, and stroke and turn judge at small Florida Gold Coast meets as well as four USMS National Championships. His service included  being a member of the USMS Officials Committee and as chair of the Florida Gold Coast Officials Committee. Steven was known to drive hours where an official was needed to hold a local meet.
