Recipient: Malcolm Cooper
Year: 2011
LMSC: Hawaii

Malcolm Cooper founded Maui’s popular open water swim event, the Aumakua 2.4 & 4 mile swims, which take place on Labor Day each year. He became Hawaii LMSC’s Chair in 2009 and expanded, promoted, and supported Masters Swimming in Hawaii. Visibility and communication within the swimming community improved significantly under his watch as he listened to their concerns, ideas, and brought face-to-face contact to the swimming community throughout the state.
