USMS Award Recipient

U.S. Masters Swimming Kerry O'Brien Coaches Award

Recipient: Chris Campbell
Year: 2010
LMSC: Pacific

Chris Campbell’s selection was based on a long list of contributions to Mountain View Masters Swim Club (MVM) and to the Pacific LMSC.  Chris coached MVM for thirteen years, and he was the head coach (2006-2009). Chris was the Pacific LMSC Coaches Chair (2006-2009) and he served on the USMS Coaches Committee (2009). In addition to receiving the 2010 U.S. Masters Swimming Kerry O’Brien Coaches Award, Chris received the Pacific LMSC 2010 Coach of the Year Award.  He had successfully directed for six years the annual AlanLiu Swim Meet, named in honor of their MVM coach who died in 2004. Their team placed well at swim meets and they were well represented at all Open Water Swims. Coach Chris had attended over 18 national or world championship meets.  Chris was instrumental in bringing guest speakers such as 3-time Olympian, Sheila Taromina, to the community. His tireless passion and dedication to the team was the glue that held MVM together throughout the years. Under Chris’ leadership MVM was reenergized and it flourished.
