Margery Meyer - Understated Lady of Masters Swimming Will Be MissedFriends and swimmers were taken by surprise when Margery Meyer passed away on November 25th at the age of 87. Meyer had been battling cancer for two years, and had kept the illness a private matter between her and her family. USMS Members South of the BorderCompeting in the Pan American Masters Swimming Championship in Veracruz, Mexico, turned into an adventure of sorts for a group of U.S. Masters Swimming members. The event, held the week of October 27th through November 1st, was the largest in the four-year history of the meet. There were 741 competitors representing eight different countries including 26 swimmers from the U.S. On the first day of the meet, the swimmers were awakened at 4:52 a.m. by an earthquake that shook the colonial port city on the Gulf of Mexico. The quake measured 5.4 on the Richter scale and was centered 44 miles away in the Gulf. Thankfully, there were no injuries or damage. Read more... |

U.S. Masters Swimming Adds Three Club Development Coordinators 10/26/2009
October 26, 2009 – In addition to 11% membership growth in 2009, U.S. Masters Swimming has experienced a 7% growth in the number of registered USMS clubs. Under the direction of Club and Coach Services Coordinator Mel Goldstein, USMS has added three additional development coordinators to better serve current Masters programs as well as grow additional USMS programs.
